MY DIET

What type of diet does Kitchen Karate support?

Kitchen Karate supports any diet that is comprised of whole fresh ingredients. The meals featured throughout the course are For Example Only (FEO). This is not a recipe-based system. Rather, it is a cooking strategy that empowers you to make the meals you want to make quickly and in abundance. You can modify the meals however you like.

Does Kitchen Karate work with the DASH Diet?

Yes. All dishes featured in the Cook-Alongs are based off My Plate, which represents the USDA guidelines for a healthy diet. The USDA derived their guidelines from the Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension (DASH).

Does Kitchen Karate work with the Paleo Diet?

Yes. Every dish is made from scratch using whole fresh ingredients. You can use any ingredients you like. We do feature whole grains during the Cook-Alongs but you can easily skip that part.

Does Kitchen Karate work with the Vegan Diet?

Yes. Every dish is made from scratch using whole fresh ingredients. You can use any ingredients you like. We do feature meats during the Cook-Alongs but you can easily replace those components with high-protein plant-based substitutes.

Does Kitchen Karate work with the Vegetarian Diet?

Yes. Every dish is made from scratch using whole fresh ingredients. You can use any ingredients you like. We do feature meats during the Cook-Alongs but you can easily replace those components with high-protein plant-based substitutes.

Does Kitchen Karate work with the Gluten-Fee Diet?

Yes. Every dish is made from scratch using whole fresh ingredients. You can use any ingredients you like. During the Cook-Alongs we do feature a small selection of grains and seasonings which contain gluten but you can easily skip or replace those components with gluten-free options.

Does Kitchen Karate work with dietary restrictions?

Yes. Every dish is made from scratch using whole fresh ingredients. You can use any ingredients you like. Kitchen Karate is perfect for someone trying to follow strict dietary guidelines for medical or weight loss reasons. The entire system is designed to put you in control of what makes it onto your plate. Simply replace or modify the use of any item featured during the Cook-Alongs.

Does Kitchen Karate work with food allergies?

Yes. Every dish is made from scratch using whole fresh ingredients. You can use any ingredients you like. Simply replace or modify the use of any item featured during the Cook-Alongs.

MY FAMILY

Does Kitchen Karate work for a family?

Absolutely. The Cook-Alongs demonstrate meals made for a single person but you can easily modify them to family size. You simply increase the serving sizes of the ingredients that go into each meal. Guidance on how to "Family Size It" is provided within the course.

Can two people practice Kitchen Karate at the same household?

Definitely. We call it Couples Karate and it is a terrific way to go through the course. Not only do you get to spend quality time together in the kitchen but also, working in tandem allows you to make all your meals for the week even faster.

Can the whole family practice Kitchen Karate?

Preparing meals for the week is fun for the whole family and a great way to involve children in actively developing healthy eating habits. Everyone can participate in the Kitchen Karate practice but some of the moves should be left to the grown ups. Anything to do with knives, flames, or raw meats should be handled by adults or under strict adult supervision. Your little ninjas can help out with everything else. Children particularly like to sprinkle on the seasonings!

Are the meals appropriate for children?

Yes and no. From a health and nutrition point of view there is no better way to feed yourself and your children than by starting with whole fresh ingredients picked out by hand. From a flavor point of view, it's a mixed bag. On the one hand you will discover ways to get your children to eat more vegetables. On the other hand children do not have developed palates and typically do not like foods with the same spices and seasoning that grown ups enjoy. Our recommendation is to make foods that you love first and worry about the kids afterwards. Creating healthy eating habits for the grown ups to model in the household is critical to instilling good eating habits in children. Once you know how to feed yourself efficiently and effectively, you will have no problem making quick meals that the kids enjoy.

COURSE MATERIALS

How do I receive the course?

The Cook-Along course is a series of streaming videos that you can play through any web browser. Each Cook-Along comes with a shopping list that you can print or email to yourself. You will also receive a variety of printable guides throughout the course.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

What technology do I need?

You need a mobile device such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop. The device must be able to stream video over the Internet while placed in the kitchen. You will get a chance to check this thoroughly during the FREE White Belt Cook-Along as there is nearly an hour of streaming video in that class. Additionally, you will want access to a printer as each Cook-Along comes with printable guides. While they are provided in full color, they can be printed in black and white.

What about data rates and charges?

There is heavy data usage in this course. You will want unlimited data from your service provider. Or you will want to use WIFI to connect with your home Internet connection. Think of it as akin to streaming a 2-hour movie in your kitchen.

What do I do if the video pauses repeatedly?

The videos should stream continuously without interruption. Here are a few things to check if you are having problems:
Make sure the video is not set to HD.
Check that you have a full WIFI or carrier signal.
Check your data rate. Your provider may offer options to increase it.
Check your connection another time of day. The Internet experiences usage surges in which everything slows down.

Join the crowd and see what we're up to on a regular basis!
